Brine Reservoir Engineer at Saudi Aramco – Saudi Arabia 2026
Saudi Aramco
Posted May 26, 2026
Job Overview
Saudi Aramco, one of the world's leading integrated energy and chemicals enterprises, is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Brine Reservoir Engineer to join its world-class subsurface resource management teams.
The primary focus of this specialized role is to develop and manage world-class brine resources and subsurface reserves. As the global energy landscape transitions toward advanced electrification, oil-field brines have emerged as an invaluable source for critical minerals like lithium. In this position, you will provide specialized engineering services as part of customized reservoir management practices designed to maximize the extraction of mineral-rich brines from subsurface formations while optimizing Net Present Value (NPV).
Vacancy Details & Baseline Criteria
- Job Title: Brine Reservoir Engineer
- Job Req ID: 16881
- Employment Type: Full-Time (Exact schedule to be specified in the formal job offer)
- Job Location: Within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Specific location to be confirmed in the formal offer)
- Target Audience: Expatriate / US Candidates (and eligible global applicants)
Minimum Educational Requirements:
- Degree: Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized university in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Hydrogeology.
- Preferred Academic Profile: Candidates holding an advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a related subsurface discipline are highly preferred.
Required Experience & Technical Skills
- Industry Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of direct experience in reservoir engineering or advanced hydrogeology.
- Domain Expertise: Documented expertise in subsurface reservoir simulation, formation evaluation, and fluid-rock interaction mechanics.
- Reserves Management: Prior practical experience in subsurface reserves management, with a strong, highly valued preference for candidates who have worked on brine reservoirs or mineral-extraction projects.
- Economic Modeling: Proven ability to provide structural economic evaluations and financial sensitivity analyses to support fast-paced asset development decisions.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Strong track record of working seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams, bridging the technical gap between geoscience, drilling, and production operations.
Key Responsibilities & Job Duties
- Formulate comprehensive brine reservoir development, data acquisition, and sustainable fluid extraction-and-reinjection strategies.
- Design and implement tailored solutions for brine reservoir performance analysis, subsurface flow dynamics, and long-term field development plans focusing on maintaining consistent mineral concentration yields.
- Supervise, run, and support comprehensive reservoir modeling and simulation studies to establish optimal well spacing for both production extraction and disposal/reinjection wells.
- Monitor operational expenditure (OPEX) metrics to operate and maintain wells efficiently, achieving the highest possible volumes of mineral-rich brine output at the lowest unit cost.
- Partner closely with geoscience, drilling, and production teams to plan and execute reservoir field studies investigating fluid-rock interactions and localized brine enrichment zones.
- Prepare engineering requirements for well construction and develop robust designs for extraction and reinjection wells, providing ongoing technical assistance to drilling staff.
- Generate asset economic evaluations to guide executive teams through high-impact, fast-paced capital deployment and operational choices.
- Train, mentor, and foster the development of young engineers and incoming professionals within the department's workforce development pipeline.
Working Environment & Benefits
Saudi Aramco provides a highly rewarding, collaborative, and globally competitive professional working environment. Employees work on truly world-scale infrastructure and mining-integration projects, backed by capital and technology investments that are second to none. Financial remuneration packages, international relocation assistance, tax-protected savings schemes, comprehensive medical networks, and premium executive housing allocations match the elite expectations of this critical technical path.

Expert Advice for Applicants
- Highlight Lithium and Critical Mineral Exposure: Because this role is focused on maximizing the extraction of minerals from oil-field brines, standard oil and gas reservoir metrics aren't enough. Ensure your CV or cover letter prominently features any experience you have with brine chemistry, lithium extraction methodologies, solution mining, or heavy hydrogeology fluid mapping.
- Emphasize Reinjection Hydraulics: Managing a brine reservoir is as much about disposal and reinjection as it is about extraction. Showcase your technical capacity in designing reinjection wells, conducting pressure maintenance simulations, and tackling downhole scaling or fluid-rock compatibility problems.
- Quantify Flow Dynamics and Simulation Scope: Don't just list simulation software. Use clear data points to highlight the size and complexity of models you have run, such as: "Managed compositional simulation models consisting of 50+ extraction/reinjection nodes to preserve steady mineral concentrations."
