What is your experience in managing large-scale infrastructure or water sector projects?
I have over 12 years of experience managing civil and water infrastructure projects. I have led multi-disciplinary teams, managed contractors, monitored quality and timelines, and ensured compliance with government regulations. I have handled projects from planning through completion, coordinating with clients, consultants, and field engineers.
How do you handle delays and cost overruns in a government project?
I address delays by first identifying root causes through regular monitoring and site visits. I revise schedules, reallocate resources, and coordinate with contractors. For cost overruns, I review the budget, seek approval for revisions where needed, and implement stricter financial controls. Transparent reporting to the Project Director is maintained throughout.
How do you ensure quality control in civil engineering projects?
I establish a quality management plan at project inception, conduct regular site inspections, and ensure testing of materials per specifications. I maintain inspection records, hold technical reviews with engineers, and ensure non-conforming work is corrected. I coordinate with third-party inspectors and government quality departments where required.
Describe your experience coordinating with government departments and stakeholders.
I have worked on government-funded projects requiring coordination with multiple departments including Finance, Local Government, and Water Utilities. I represent the PMU in meetings, prepare progress reports, and ensure compliance with government policies. I maintain regular communication with stakeholders and manage approvals and NOCs for project activities.
What project management tools and reporting systems have you used?
I have used MS Project for scheduling, Excel-based monitoring dashboards, and AutoCAD for design reviews. I prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, maintain risk registers, and use PMIS systems where applicable. I also prepare PCIs and completion reports per government project formats.
How do you manage field teams working in remote areas of Balochistan?
I establish clear work plans and reporting protocols with field staff. I conduct regular field visits, hold weekly virtual briefings, and ensure field engineers have the resources and technical guidance needed. I build relationships with local communities and authorities to facilitate access and cooperation. I address field challenges promptly.
What is your approach to procurement and contractor management?
I ensure procurement follows PPRA rules and government procedures. I assist in preparing BOQs, tender documents, and evaluation criteria. I monitor contractor performance against contract terms, issue notices for non-compliance, and conduct regular progress meetings. I maintain contract documentation and ensure dispute resolution through proper channels.
How do you handle safety and environmental compliance on project sites?
I enforce Health, Safety and Environment plans on all sites. I conduct safety inductions for workers, ensure provision of PPE, and conduct periodic safety audits. I ensure environmental mitigation measures are implemented as per project design. I report incidents and ensure corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence.
Describe a challenge you faced in a government project and how you resolved it.
In a water supply project, we faced site access issues due to community disputes. I engaged local elders and government officials, organized community consultations, and revised the alignment to accommodate concerns. This resolved the dispute within two weeks and the project progressed without further interruption. Documentation of the resolution was maintained for official record.
Why are you interested in this role at the Clean Drinking Water Project?
Clean drinking water is a critical public health need in Balochistan and I am deeply motivated to contribute to this cause.
