Qualifications
- Minimum 16 years of education in Civil Engineering, Material Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geology from an HEC-recognized university
Experience
- Minimum 05 years of experience in material testing, mix design, and quality assurance or in a similar role

How to Prepare for This Role
A Material Engineer interview at ECSP focuses on your knowledge of material testing standards, mix design procedures, and quality assurance protocols for infrastructure construction. Five years of hands-on lab and field material testing experience is the minimum. Come prepared to discuss specific test types, standards, and how you applied QA findings on real projects.
Bring your updated CV, attested copies of your degree in Civil, Material, Geological Engineering or Geology, CNIC, and experience certificates covering at least 5 years of post-qualification work in material testing, mix design, and quality assurance on construction or infrastructure projects.
If you have lab test reports or mix design approvals from past projects, reference them in the interview as evidence of your practical experience. Specific examples are far more convincing than general claims.
Review ASTM, AASHTO, and PSQCA testing standards for concrete, aggregates, soil, asphalt, and steel. Study concrete mix design (ACI 211), Marshall mix design for asphalt, soil compaction testing (Proctor, CBR), and aggregate grading. Be ready to explain acceptance/rejection criteria for common infrastructure materials.
Know what tests you would require from a contractor before approving a concrete pour or an asphalt layer, and what action you would take if a test result failed. This is the practical QA judgment the panel will test.
Expect questions on concrete mix design approval, asphalt mix design, soil compaction testing, aggregate quality checks, and how you handled a material failure or non-conformance on a past project. Be ready to name specific test standards and acceptance criteria.
Prepare one concrete example of a material non-conformance you encountered: what material failed, which test, your recommended action, and how it was resolved. Judgment under pressure is what separates a competent Material Engineer from a routine one.
Arrive with originals and attested copies of all documents. Dress formally. Demonstrate technical precision and an independent quality assurance mindset. These are the hallmarks of a strong Material Engineer in a consultancy setting.
