Tips for Passing the NTS Test
Know the NTS Test Format
- NTS tests for trade apprentices typically consist of MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) covering general knowledge, English, mathematics/science, and trade-specific technical knowledge.
- Each correct answer carries marks and there is usually no negative marking — attempt all questions.
- Time management is critical; practice answering MCQs quickly and accurately.
Subject-Specific Preparation
- Mathematics & Science: Revise your Matric-level Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Focus on formulas, units, and basic problem solving — these appear in almost every NTS trade test.
- English: Practice vocabulary, fill-in-the-blanks, sentence correction, and basic grammar. NTS English sections are straightforward but require regular practice.
- General Knowledge: Study current affairs, Pakistan studies, and basic Islamiat at Matric level.
- Trade Knowledge: Study your DAE/B-Tech/B.Sc. textbooks for your specific trade (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical). NTS includes technical MCQs relevant to the trade you are applying for.
Practice With Past NTS Papers
- Download previous NTS papers from www.nts.org.pk or search "NTS past papers trade test" online. Practicing real past papers is the single most effective way to prepare.
- Focus on NTS papers for similar technical/engineering roles as the question pattern repeats.
Registration & Test Day Tips
- Register early at www.nts.org.pk — don't wait for the last date as the portal can get slow near the deadline.
- Keep your CNIC and NTS roll number slip ready; you will not be allowed into the test center without them.
- Bring a black/blue ballpoint pen. Pencils may not be accepted.
- Arrive at the test center at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time — late entry is not allowed.
- Do not bring a mobile phone, smart watch, or any electronic device into the test hall.
Important Reminders
- You can only apply for one post in this entire project — choose your strongest trade carefully.
- Post Masters and Engineering Degree holders are not eligible; ensure your qualification matches the eligibility criteria before applying.
