About the Job

National Power Parks Management Company (Private) Limited (NPPMCL), Government of Pakistan, owns and operates two RLNG based Combined Cycle Power Plants: the 1223 MW Balloki Power Plant situated at District Kasur and the 1230 MW Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Plant situated at District Jhang. NPPMCL's Head Office is located at Lahore. NPPMCL invites applications for the position of General Manager Plant. Eligibility Criteria

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical) from a University recognized by HEC and PEC
  • Master's degree in relevant discipline will be an added advantage

Experience

  • At least 15 years of power sector (national or international) experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct experience of operations, maintenance / asset management of Combined-Cycle Power Plants, with owners of plant or O&M contractors/operators
  • Experience of at least one Major Inspection of Gas Turbine of frame 5 or above is an added advantage
  • C-type inspection of Steam Turbine is an added advantage

1Combined-Cycle Power Plant Operations and Asset Management

The core experience requirement is a minimum of 8 years of direct experience in operations, maintenance, or asset management of Combined-Cycle Power Plants with the owner of a plant or with an O&M contractor or operator. This will be the central focus of the interview. Be prepared to describe the specific Combined-Cycle plants you have worked at, their installed capacity, the fuel type, your exact role, and the scope of your responsibilities. For each plant, explain whether you were on the owner side or the O&M contractor side, as the ad specifically mentions both. Prepare to walk through your experience managing plant operations, maintenance planning, outage management, and asset lifecycle decisions at a senior level.

Tip
NPPMCL operates two RLNG-based Combined Cycle Power Plants totaling over 2,400 MW. The interview panel will include senior technical leadership. Demonstrate your understanding of the operational and maintenance challenges specific to RLNG-fuelled combined cycle plants and frame your answers around large-capacity plant environments.
2Major Inspection Experience: Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine

Experience of at least one Major Inspection of a Gas Turbine of frame 5 or above, and a C-type inspection of a Steam Turbine, are listed as added advantages. If you have this experience, prepare to discuss it in detail as it will differentiate you from other candidates. Walk the panel through the inspection scope, the team you led or participated in, the key findings, the replacement or refurbishment decisions made, and the timeline and cost management involved. If you have handled both Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine inspection experience, describe each separately. Panels at power utilities assess whether candidates understand the technical depth of inspection processes and can lead them effectively.

Key Point
The ad specifies Gas Turbine of frame 5 or above, which refers to GE Frame 5, Frame 6, Frame 7, or Frame 9 class turbines. Be specific about the frame class of the turbines you have worked on. 315-Year Power Sector Leadership Track Record

The role requires at least 15 years of power sector experience at the national or international level. At the General Manager level, the interview will assess your leadership capability, decision-making authority, and the scope of the teams and budgets you have managed. Prepare a structured summary of your career progression in the power sector: the organizations you worked for, the capacity of the plants, the roles you held, the number of staff reporting to you, and the key results you delivered. For a General Manager Plant role, the panel will want to understand how you have managed plant performance, met availability and reliability targets, handled major incidents, and reported to the board or company leadership. Prepare data points such as plant availability factor percentages, maintenance cost savings, or safety performance records you achieved in your most recent senior roles.

NPPMCL is a Government of Pakistan entity. Be prepared to discuss how you have worked within or alongside public sector governance frameworks, including PEPCO/NTDC coordination, NEPRA compliance, and government reporting requirements, as these are part of the operating context for this role.
4Self-Appraisal Against the Criteria Before Applying
