Institute of Space Technology (IST) Islamabad invites applications from male candidates for 01 post of Junior Sports Coach (Male) at EBPS-12 on a contract basis. This role assists in delivering sports training, organizing sports activities, and supporting the Sports department at IST's Islamabad campus. The initial contract period is two (02) years, extendable on performance basis. Applications are accepted from degree holders in Physical Education/Sports Science (with 04 years post-qualification experience) or from Retired Naib Subedars or equivalent ranks of PAF/Navy with relevant experience. All practical tests and interviews are conducted at IST Islamabad campus only.

Qualification

Important Information / Application Guidelines
- All qualifications should only be from the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education / Technical Education recognized by the Federal / Provincial / AJK Governments and well reputed universities / institutions recognized by the HEC, as applicable.
- First class in final degree is mandatory. Only one second class / division in the entire academic career from matric onwards is allowed. First class / division means a minimum of 60% marks for annual system or a minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 for semester system. Second class / division means a minimum of 50% marks for annual system or a minimum CGPA of 2.0 out of 4.0 for semester system.
- No third division/class (marks less than 50% in annual system or CGPA less than 2.00/4.00 in semester system) in the entire academic career is allowed.
- All posts are Islamabad based. Practical Test/Interviews will be conducted at IST, Islamabad campus only.
- Applications with academic qualifications/degrees and experience in the relevant field will be considered only.
- Age will be calculated on the closing date of applications. Ex-Govt. officials / Ex-servicemen who fulfill the eligibility criteria may be granted age relaxation as per Govt. rules.
- Candidates selected will be offered an initial contract for a period of two (02) years (extendable).
- Ex-servicemen should also submit attested copy of NOC (mandatory) from General HQs / Air HQs / Naval HQs, as applicable.
- Ex-Govt. officials / Ex-servicemen should submit attested copies of their release/retirement order and Last Pay Certificate (LPC) duly verified from the concerned authority.
- Serving Employees of Govt. / Semi Govt. / Autonomous organizations should submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective organizations regarding permission to apply.
- Serving Regular Employees of Govt. / Semi Govt. / Autonomous organizations will not be appointed on deputation / EOL. In case of selection, the applicant will be required to tender resignation from regular service.

How to Prepare for This Role
The Junior Sports Coach (Male) at IST Islamabad is an EBPS-12 contract post open to male candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education/Sports Science (1st division, 04 years experience) or Retired Naib Subedars or equivalent ranks of PAF/Navy with relevant experience. Maximum age is 30 years. The selection includes a practical assessment and/or interview at IST Islamabad campus. The four areas below reflect what the panel evaluates for this hands-on junior coaching and sports support role.
There are two eligibility routes. The academic route requires a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health and Physical Education, or Sports Science in 1st division, plus 04 years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field. The military route accepts Retired Naib Subedars or equivalent ranks of PAF/Navy with relevant sports coaching or physical training experience. For the academic route, bring attested experience certificates covering the full 04 years, clearly showing the nature of sports or physical education work, the organization, and exact dates of service. For the military route, bring your retirement/release order, Last Pay Certificate, and the mandatory NOC from GHQ/Air HQs/Naval HQs. Ensure experience is in the relevant field of sports coaching or physical education, not in an unrelated area.
Prepare an experience summary listing each employer, your sports coaching or physical education role, the sport disciplines covered, the level of participants (school, college, university, community), and the dates of service. This gives the panel a clear picture of your 04 years of relevant experience at a glance.
As a Junior Sports Coach, you will assist in planning and delivering training sessions for IST students. The panel will assess your practical knowledge of coaching techniques, warm-up and cool-down routines, drill design for skill development, and basic periodization for a university sports season. Be ready to describe how you would run a training session for a student cricket or football team, how you would assess a student's fitness level, and how you would handle a mixed-ability group during practice. Military route candidates should describe physical training sessions they conducted during their service, including exercises, drills, and fitness assessments used in the armed forces, and how those translate to coaching university students in a civilian setting.
State clearly which sport or sports you specialize in coaching. At the Junior Coach level, the panel expects a specific practical competence in at least one sport rather than a general physical education background. Demonstrating proficiency in a sport popular at university level (cricket, football, badminton, table tennis, athletics) strengthens your candidacy.
The Junior Sports Coach supports the Sports department in organizing inter-department matches, practice matches, and university sports events. The panel may ask how you would assist in setting up a sports day, how you would maintain and issue sports equipment, how you would keep attendance and performance records for student athletes, and how you would encourage participation from students who are not regular players. Demonstrating an understanding of safety protocols during practice (warm-up, injury prevention, first aid basics) is important. The ability to maintain basic records of equipment inventory, match results, and student attendance is part of the junior coaching role at a formal institution.
Prepare a brief example of how you would organize and run a round-robin inter-department cricket or football tournament covering fixture scheduling, team registration, equipment setup, refereeing arrangements, and result recording. This kind of operational thinking is what distinguishes effective junior coaches from candidates with only playing experience.
