How to Prepare for This Role

NGC's selection panel for the Manager Audit (Risk Assessment, Planning & Execution) role will assess your practical experience in risk-based audit execution, internal control evaluation, and audit report preparation. This is a hands-on management role requiring both technical audit depth and team supervisory capability. Use this guide to prepare for a structured interview.

📌
Note: Two positions are available. The panel will shortlist on the quality and relevance of professional experience. CA candidates need at least 4 years post-qualification experience; ACMA/ACCA candidates need at least 8 years. CIA, CISA, CFE, or ISO ERM/GRC certifications are preferred.
1Application Documents to Prepare

Email your updated CV with a recent photograph and date of birth in MS Word or PDF format to mgr-audit1@enihr.com by 6 July 2026. Your CV must clearly reflect your CA/ACMA/ACCA qualification, years of post-qualification experience, and specific experience in conducting risk assessments, executing internal audits, and preparing audit reports.

Tip
Quantify your audit experience wherever possible: number of audits conducted per year, size of organizations audited, and types of internal controls reviewed. NGC is a national utility with complex operational and financial processes. Experience in energy, infrastructure, or large government organizations will be an added advantage.
2Technical Knowledge to Review

Be ready to discuss: how you conduct a risk assessment to identify audit priorities, how you prepare and execute an internal audit plan, how you evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, how you prepare and present audit findings to senior management, and how you coordinate with external auditors to avoid duplication and maximize coverage.

Key Point
NGC is a state-owned transmission utility. Internal audits at NGC will cover financial controls, procurement processes, operational systems, and regulatory compliance. Review risk-based internal auditing methodology, COSO internal control framework, and IIA Performance Standards before your interview.
3Competency Questions to Expect

The NGC panel will assess your audit execution experience and team management skills. Prepare examples that demonstrate: how you designed and executed a risk-based internal audit, how you identified a significant internal control weakness and reported it to management, how you coordinated with external auditors on joint coverage, and how you guided junior audit staff through a complex engagement.

Pro Tip
Prepare a specific internal audit case study: the entity or process audited, the risk assessment approach used, the key findings identified, and how findings were reported and actioned. Manager-level audit interviews at government utilities expect structured, methodology-driven examples rather than general descriptions of audit work.
4On the Day of Interview

Arrive with all original credentials and attested copies. Dress formally. Demonstrate command of risk-based audit methodology and internal control frameworks. Show that you can independently lead audit engagements while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with external auditors. NGC values audit managers who combine technical rigor with strong communication and team supervisory skills.
