How to Prepare for This Role

The Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) position is a contract-based role in a donor funded project based in Quetta, Balochistan. The role requires a specialized postgraduate or professional laboratory qualification with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Quality Assurance, Microscopy, and Rapid Diagnostic Testing (RDT). Shortlisted candidates will be called for a test and/or interview. The four areas below outline what the selection panel will assess most closely.

Note: This is a re-advertisement. Applicants who submitted their documents before need not to apply again. Send your complete application (CV, attested testimonials, CNIC copy, 2x photographs) to Post Box No. 385 GPO Quetta within 15 days of publication (by 9th July 2026). Incomplete applications will not be entertained. No TA/DA will be paid for test/interview.
1MS Microbiology or BS Medical Lab Technologist from an HEC Recognized University

The panel will verify your MS Microbiology or BS Medical Lab Technologist degree from an HEC recognized university as the mandatory academic qualification. Bring your original degree, transcript, and mark sheets to the interview. If you hold an MS in Microbiology, your transcript should reflect coursework in microbial quality systems, diagnostic microbiology, and laboratory standards. If your qualification is a BS Medical Lab Technologist, your transcript should show laboratory sciences, haematology, microbiology, and clinical biochemistry modules. Foreign degree holders must bring their HEC equivalency certificate. Ensure your degree is from an institution recognized by HEC; degrees from non-recognized institutions will result in disqualification at the scrutiny stage regardless of your experience.

Tip
Carry attested photocopies of your degree and transcript along with the originals. The panel will ask you to connect your academic background directly to Quality Assurance and laboratory diagnostic work, so be prepared to describe relevant coursework and how it applies to QA functions in a public health or disease control program context.
25 Years Experience in Quality Assurance, Microscopy and RDT

Minimum 5 years of experience specifically in Quality Assurance, Microscopy, and Rapid Diagnostic Testing (RDT) is a hard requirement. Your experience letters must clearly state your designation and describe the QA, Microscopy, and RDT functions you performed. Be prepared to discuss your QA role in detail: what quality assurance systems or protocols you managed, how you conducted internal and external quality control in a laboratory setting, and how you monitored test performance indicators. For Microscopy, describe the type of slides you examined (e.g., malaria blood films, TB sputum smears), the staining methods used (Giemsa, Ziehl-Neelsen), and the proficiency testing processes you participated in. For RDT, describe the test kits you worked with, how you validated results, and how you handled discordant results between RDT and microscopy findings.

Key Point
Experience letters must come from verifiable employers and must specifically mention QA, Microscopy, and/or RDT functions. Generic laboratory experience letters that do not describe these three specific areas will be weaker at the scrutiny stage. If you have worked across all three areas in different roles, obtain a separate experience letter from each employer covering the relevant function.
3Quality Assurance in a Public Health or Disease Control Program Context

Since this is a donor funded project in Balochistan, the QAO role is most likely linked to a disease control program such as a malaria control initiative, tuberculosis program, or similar public health intervention. Be prepared to discuss QA frameworks used in public health laboratory networks: WHO Laboratory Quality Standards, External Quality Assurance (EQA) schemes, panel testing, and blinded rechecking of slides. Interviewers may ask how you would set up or improve a QA system across district-level laboratories, how you would train peripheral staff on microscopy technique and RDT use, and how you would document and report QA findings to program management. Familiarity with Balochistan's health system and disease burden context will demonstrate program awareness and strengthen your candidacy.

Tip
Prepare a concrete example of a QA improvement you led or contributed to: what the problem was (e.g., high slide misread rate, RDT result discordance), what intervention you implemented, and what the measurable outcome was. Specific examples with outcomes are far more convincing to donor project panels than general descriptions of QA duties.
4Application Package: CV, Attested Testimonials, CNIC Copy and Photographs

Prepare your application package carefully before the deadline. Include: a detailed CV highlighting your QA, Microscopy, and RDT experience; attested copies of all educational testimonials (degrees, transcripts, diplomas); a copy of your CNIC; and 2 passport size photographs. All testimonials must be attested by a gazetted officer. Send the complete package via postal mail to Post Box No. 385 GPO Quetta. The application must reach within 15 days of publication of this advertisement (by 9th July 2026). Incomplete applications and those received after the due date will not be entertained. This is a re-advertisement, so applicants who submitted previously need not apply again.
