How to Prepare for This Role
The Research Assistant (HR & Finance) (BPS-16) position at MNS University of Agriculture Multan is a regular post requiring a Master's degree (at least 2nd division, 16 years of education) specifically in Human Resource Management, Accounting, Finance, or Commerce from an HEC recognized University. The role supports HR and finance research within the University. With no experience requirement listed, the academic background and subject knowledge will be the primary selection criteria. The four areas below outline what the interview committee will evaluate most closely.
Unlike the Research Assistant (Business Development) post which accepts any relevant field, this position specifies four acceptable disciplines: Human Resource Management, Accounting, Finance, and Commerce. Your Master's degree must be in one of these four fields with at least 2nd division and must represent 16 years of education. Bring attested copies of all your academic documents including DMCs from Matriculation through postgraduate level. Confirm that your degree title on the certificate matches one of the four specified fields or is clearly a sub-discipline of one of them. Confirm your university is HEC recognized by checking the current HEC recognized institutions list before applying. An unrecognized institution will disqualify the application regardless of academic standing.
If your Master's degree is in MBA with a specialization in Finance or HR, this should satisfy the requirement. However, ensure the degree certificate or transcript clearly states the specialization. If it only says MBA without specifying the field, bring supplementary documentation such as your course transcript showing HR or Finance subjects to clarify the focus area.
The title combines HR and Finance, so the interview panel may test knowledge from either or both areas depending on the University's current research needs. For Human Resource Management, be prepared to discuss topics such as recruitment and selection processes, performance management, compensation structures, training and development, and HR policy in public sector organizations. For Finance and Accounting, expect questions on financial statements, budget preparation, cost accounting, and audit principles. If your Master's specialization was in one of the two areas, focus your preparation on that field while developing a basic understanding of the other. Demonstrating awareness of how HR and Finance functions support each other in a university setting will be an advantage.
This is a research support role in an agricultural university. Even if your background is purely in HR or Finance, prepare one or two examples of how your subject connects to agricultural university management, for instance HR planning for academic staff or financial analysis for research grants and project budgets.
As a Research Assistant, core competencies will include data collection, literature review, report drafting, and quantitative or qualitative analysis. The interview may include questions on your familiarity with research tools such as Excel, SPSS, or similar software used in HR or financial research. Describe your Master's thesis methodology clearly: whether it was quantitative (surveys, financial data analysis) or qualitative (interviews, case studies), what conclusions you reached, and what practical implications your findings had. Candidates who can demonstrate structured research skills beyond merely completing coursework will be better placed at shortlisting and interview stages.
If you have any published paper, conference presentation, or research report in HR management or finance, bring documentation to the interview. Even participation in a university-level research project or seminar in your field strengthens your profile for a research assistant role where no prior work experience is required.
For non-teaching positions, the University requires two complete sets (dossiers), each containing attested copies of all certificates, degrees, testimonials, detailed marks certificates, experience certificates where applicable, and the Original Bank Draft of Rs. 2,000/-. The Bank Draft must be Rs. 2,000/- as applicable to BPS-16 posts. Prepare both dossier sets well in advance and verify every document is properly attested and organized consistently across both sets. The online application must be submitted by 20th July 2026, and the hard form dossiers must reach the University by 22nd July 2026.
