How to Prepare for This Role
The Research Assistant (IT and Admin Support) (BPS-16) position at MNS University of Agriculture Multan is a regular post requiring a Master's degree (at least 2nd division, 16 years of education) in Computer Science, IT, or Management Sciences from an HEC recognized University. The role covers both IT and administrative support functions, making it suited to candidates with a technology or management sciences background. No experience is listed as a requirement, so academic credentials and subject knowledge are the primary selection factors. The four areas below outline what the interview committee will assess most closely.
The qualification specifies three acceptable fields: Computer Science, IT, and Management Sciences. Your Master's degree must be in one of these disciplines with at least 2nd division and must represent 16 years of education. Before applying, verify your university is listed as HEC recognized. Bring attested copies of all DMCs from Matriculation onward at the time of dossier submission and at interview. If your degree title is closely related to but not exactly one of the three specified fields (for example, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or MIS), be prepared to articulate how your degree qualifies as Computer Science, IT, or Management Sciences. Bring the degree program's course outline or HEC equivalency documentation if there is any ambiguity.
MBA in MIS (Management Information Systems) or MS in Information Technology are strong fits for this role. If your degree is a general MBA without a clear IT or Management Sciences orientation, check whether your transcript shows sufficient IT or MIS coursework to justify the claim, and be ready to explain this at interview.
The IT component of this role will require practical computing and systems knowledge. Be ready to demonstrate proficiency in standard office productivity software, database handling, website or system administration concepts, and IT support tasks such as troubleshooting software and hardware issues, managing user accounts, and maintaining IT records. Knowledge of software commonly used in university administration, including student management systems, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and ERP platforms, will be advantageous. The interview panel may ask how you would approach a specific IT support task or how you would assist staff with an administrative software issue. Prepare practical, scenario-based answers rather than only theoretical responses.
The role title includes both IT and Admin Support. This means the position spans technology and office administration. Be ready to discuss both aspects: IT skills from your Computer Science or IT background, and administrative competencies such as correspondence drafting, record management, scheduling, and coordination of office functions. Presenting both dimensions in the interview demonstrates full readiness for the combined scope of this role.
As a Research Assistant, you will support data collection, analysis, and documentation tasks alongside IT and administrative duties. The panel may ask about your experience with research methodologies used in Computer Science or Management Sciences, such as system analysis, software evaluation studies, or data-driven administrative research. Be ready to describe your Master's thesis topic, the research tools you used, and the conclusions you reached. Familiarity with database querying, data visualization, or analytical tools such as Excel, SPSS, or Python for data tasks will add credibility. Demonstrating that you can bridge the gap between IT systems and research documentation makes you a stronger candidate for this dual-function role.
Candidates with any hands-on experience managing a university departmental website, setting up an online form or portal, or assisting with IT-based administrative systems have a practical edge over those with purely academic backgrounds. Even a relevant internship or project during your Master's program is worth mentioning in the interview.
For non-teaching positions, the University requires two complete sets (dossiers), each containing attested copies of all certificates, degrees, testimonials, detailed marks certificates, experience certificates where applicable, and the Original Bank Draft of Rs. 2,000/-. The fee for BPS-16 posts is Rs. 2,000/-. Prepare both dossier sets well in advance and verify every document is properly attested and organized consistently across both sets. The online application must be submitted by 20th July 2026, and the hard form dossiers must reach the University by 22nd July 2026.
