The role requires a first class 16-year degree in Natural Science in one of the specified fields: Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Biomedical Engineering. The test is likely to assess subject-specific knowledge from your field of study. Review your core undergraduate and postgraduate coursework in your relevant discipline, with particular attention to topics directly related to biomedical materials, such as material characterization, biomaterials properties, surface engineering, polymer chemistry, or metallurgical processes. Your first class academic record will be verified, so ensure all your transcripts and certificates are HEC attested before submission.

Two years of relevant experience in a university or national or international organization is required. The interview panel will assess the quality and relevance of your research experience. Be ready to discuss: the research projects you worked on during your two years, your specific contributions and responsibilities in those projects, any publications, conference presentations, or research reports you produced, and the laboratory techniques and equipment you operated. If your experience is from a university research lab, describe the research theme and how it relates to materials science or biomedical engineering.

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for test and interview. The written test for a Scientific Officer position at a research centre typically covers subject knowledge in your declared field, research methodology, scientific writing, and analytical reasoning. Review fundamental concepts in your discipline that relate to materials science and biomedical engineering. Prepare to answer questions on material properties, characterization techniques (such as XRD, SEM, FTIR, or mechanical testing), and basic research concepts. Also review academic English for scientific writing as research centres often test communication skills.
