About the Job

The University of Karachi is seeking a dynamic, visionary leader for the position of Director, Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) on a contractual basis. The incumbent will be committed to achieving excellence in research, fostering innovation, and driving commercialization initiatives including patenting and intellectual property development.

The candidate must bring an entrepreneurial mindset with Research & Development, Programme, or Operation Management experience in a National or International Organization or Think Tank. The role demands the ability to develop strong ties with Local Government, Business Industry, Academia, Social Communities and Entrepreneurs, along with proven leadership in managing and growing Non-Profit organizations.

In accordance with HEC, SHEC and regulatory bodies, the Director ORIC will manage and enhance the research activities of the University, develop Research Policies and priorities, and draft Proposals, Concept Notes and Business Development Plans for the University's Research Projects for presentation to relevant Industry, Donor, and Private Public Sector Organizations.

Qualification

1. Candidate must be Ph.D in Basic Sciences, Engineering, Information Technology or Management Science from an HEC-recognised University / Institution with at least 10 years of experience in research projects, commercialisation, projects management, entrepreneurship or related areas in a public or private University / Institution.

Eligibility

1. The Candidate must possess a clear vision, strong leadership capabilities and in-depth knowledge of research innovation, commercialization and industry-academia linkages in accordance with the guidelines prescribed by the HEC, Islamabad for the office of research innovation and commercialization (ORIC).
2. Candidate holding a PhD with at least four HEC-recognised research publications in WoS/Scopus-indexed journals shall be eligible to apply.
3. The maximum age limit for applicants shall be 55 years at the time of submission of the application form.
4. A minimum of two years of experience serving as Director ORIC is preferred.
5. The Candidates must possess proven experience in coordination with senior officials of the HEC of Pakistan.

2. All degrees, Certificate Courses must be passed from University / Institutes / Board recognized by the HEC.
3. Application on plain paper will not be accepted.
4. Candidates already working in the Govt./Semi Govt. or autonomous organizations in Pakistan must apply through proper channel.
5. Candidates are required to appear before the Selection Board of the University of Karachi.
