About the Job

Upon promulgation of The Public Sector Medical Universities (Amendment) Act, 2026, Government of the Punjab, Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department invites fresh applications for the positions of Vice Chancellors of public sector medical universities in Punjab. The Government of the Punjab, Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, 11-A, Lawrence Road, Lahore has invited applications for Vice Chancellor positions in public sector medical universities in Punjab. The appointment shall be for a period of four years, non-extendable, and shall serve during the pleasure of the Chancellor.

Public Sector Medical Universities in Punjab

Eligibility Criteria

A person shall not be eligible for the post of Vice Chancellor unless he or she has:

• MBBS degree, minimum second division, or equivalent minimum level-III medical qualification such as FCPS or MD or MS, or equivalent qualification in clinical subjects, or Ph.D in basic medical sciences from an institute or a university recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
• Been a Professor for at least ten years in a medical institute or university recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
• At least twenty publications in indexed medical journals recognized by the Higher Education Commission or Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
• Candidates must not be more than seventy years of age on the last date of submission of applications.

Terms and Conditions

• Appointment shall be for a period of four years, non-extendable, and shall serve during the pleasure of the Chancellor.
• The Vice Chancellor shall not hold any paid or unpaid post, administrative, academic, or honorary, in any organization, professional body during the term.
• The Vice Chancellor may undertake academic and clinical assignments in the University and its attached hospital for academic purposes only.
• The Vice Chancellor shall not undertake any private practice inside or outside the premises of the University.

• No Objection Certificate (NOC), No Enquiry Certificate (NEC), and No Due Certificate (NDC) from the current employer are mandatory.

• Applications submitted after the stipulated date and time shall not be considered or entertained.
• Only eligible shortlisted applicants will be called for interviews.
