Primary Objective

Monitor and drive the delivery of vendor engineering. Ensure quality checks, with special attention to interface management and constructability across minerals and metals processing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineering Design Review: Perform engineering design review duties associated with belt conveyors, stock houses, cooling water systems and other supporting infrastructure of steel plants or mineral extraction/processing plants.
• Package Contractor Review: Review package contractors' drawings and documents, check interface with other discipline designs, initiate or review equipment selection and specification.
• Detail Design Collaboration: Engage in detail design collaboration with designers and participate in bid evaluation and vendor document review and approval.
• Safety Reviews: Participate in HAZOP and other similar safety reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Quality Assurance: Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system to maintain project standards.
• Safety Responsibility: Responsible for personal safety and adherence to OH&S procedures, with knowledge of industry standard safe working practices.
• Vendor Guidance: Guide vendor's team to meet project targets in terms of schedule and quality delivery.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Industry Experience: 14+ years in minerals and metals industry
• Technical Expertise: Adequate knowledge of material handling equipment such as belt conveyors, hoppers, screens and feeders
• Specialized Experience: Work experience in a pelletising plant or iron ore beneficiation plant highly valued
• Work Performance: Work performed in accordance with broad technical guidelines and with minimal supervision
• Time Management: Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritize work to achieve project milestones
