How to Prepare for This Role
SBP BSC Selection Board interviews for the Fire & Safety Officer position are conducted at a professional and technical level. The panel will assess your ten-plus years of fire safety and equipment maintenance experience, your knowledge of international fire safety standards, and your ability to advise and implement fire protection systems within a large regulated institution. This guide will help you prepare for a strong interview performance.
Apply online at https://career.sbp.org.pk/login within 15 days of publication. Ensure your online profile clearly reflects your Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and at least 10 years of relevant experience. Bring to the interview: attested copies of your diploma, experience certificates, CNIC, domicile certificate, and a recent photograph.
SBP BSC shortlists on the basis of eligibility criteria AND quality/relevance of professional experience. Ensure your application clearly highlights your direct experience with fire suppression systems, fire detection management, and familiarity with Pakistan building codes and Fire Safety Provisions. Generic experience descriptions reduce your chances of being shortlisted.
Be ready to discuss in detail: the components and operation of fire suppression and detection systems, Fire Protection Plan (FPP) structure and maintenance, ISO and NFPA fire safety standards relevant to commercial and institutional buildings, Pakistan's building codes and Fire Safety Provisions, SLA-based equipment maintenance processes, and incident reporting frameworks.
SBP BSC is a central bank subsidiary with institutional fire safety requirements governed by ISO, NFPA, and Pakistan's own building and fire codes. The Selection Board will test your applied knowledge of these standards, not just familiarity. Review NFPA 72 (Fire Alarm), NFPA 13 (Sprinkler Systems), and Pakistan's National Building Code fire safety chapters before your interview.
The SBP BSC Selection Board uses experience-based questioning. Prepare specific examples that demonstrate: how you maintained or revised a Fire Protection Plan at a previous organization, how you aligned safety arrangements with ISO or NFPA standards, how you identified and addressed operational safety gaps, how you managed SLAs for safety/security equipment maintenance, and how you developed and delivered employee fire safety awareness programs.
Prepare a concise account of one significant fire safety incident or compliance challenge you managed at a previous institution, covering what the situation was, what action you took, and what the outcome was. The Selection Board responds well to candidates who demonstrate institutional-level fire safety thinking, not just equipment-level maintenance experience.
Arrive early with all original documents and attested copies. Note that a medical examination by the Bank's Medical Officer is part of the appointment process, so ensure you are medically fit before applying. Dress formally and professionally for a central bank environment. Speak with precision on technical fire safety topics and demonstrate that you understand the advisory, policy, and compliance dimensions of the FSO role, not just the operational and maintenance aspects. SBP BSC values a Fire & Safety Officer who can independently lead institution-wide fire safety programs while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and documentation.
