Eligibility Criteria

Education

• FCPS II training completed in Paediatrics from a recognized institution

Experience

• Emergency department background is preferred

Potential Key Responsibilities

• Manage acute medical emergencies in the Paediatric Emergency and Urgent Care Unit, including triage, initial assessment, and stabilization of critically ill paediatric patients
• Initiate and lead resuscitation protocols including airway management, IV access, fluid resuscitation, and pharmacological interventions per PALS and ACLS guidelines
• Diagnose and manage paediatric emergencies including acute kidney injury, urological crises, sepsis, respiratory distress, seizures, and post-transplant complications
• Order, interpret, and act on investigations including laboratory panels, blood gases, imaging, and microbiology results in time-sensitive emergency scenarios
• Perform emergency bedside procedures including IV cannulation, nasogastric tube insertion, urinary catheterization, and lumbar puncture as clinically indicated
• Liaise promptly with senior consultants, nephrology, urology, and intensive care teams for complex or deteriorating paediatric patients requiring specialist input
• Supervise and mentor junior medical officers and rotating trainees in the Paediatric Emergency Unit
• Ensure accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation including emergency notes, investigation requests, and procedural records
• Communicate effectively with families of paediatric patients regarding diagnosis, management plans, and clinical progress in a compassionate and clear manner
