Selected individuals will operate vehicles in strict compliance with United Nations safety and security protocols, while occasionally supporting administrative operations on-site. • Language Support: Assisting international staff or visitors by translating basic conversations to and from the local language during field transits.
  • Protocol & Arrival Assistance: Greeting official staff and international dignitaries at airports or border entry points, and providing basic logistical support with customs and visa formalities.
  • Logistics & Maintenance Documentation: Maintaining detailed, up-to-date vehicle logbooks to track mileage, trip routes, and fuel consumption to support cost-efficiency audits.
  • Vehicle Upkeep & Inspections: Ensuring the assigned vehicle remains systematically cleaned, fueled, and mechanically sound. Ensuring necessary travel authorizations and mandated emergency gear are present in the vehicle at all times.
  • Incident Reporting: Following established procedures during field delivery delays or roadside accidents, reporting immediately to direct supervisors to obtain clear logistical instructions.

Expert Advice

  • Highlight Multi-Vehicle and Terrain Versatility: WFP operations span diverse terrains, from city streets in Islamabad to remote high-altitude routes near Muzaffarabad or arid environments around Quetta. Candidates who explicitly detail their experience driving heavy vehicles, 4x4 trucks, or larger passenger vans in challenging weather and off-road conditions will immediately stand out to human resource screeners.
  • Emphasize Professional Certifications and Defensive Driving: While standard licenses are mandatory, having an official certification in Defensive Driving, UN Security Training, or advanced First Aid gives an applicant a decisive advantage. Ensure these specific certificates are highlighted clearly on your resume.
  • Don't Overlook the Value of Bilingual & Office Support Skills: This position goes beyond operating a vehicle; it requires translation during transits and basic administrative duties back at the office. Candidates should frame their resumes to demonstrate strong interpersonal manners, absolute punctuality, and familiarity with general office tools like email or scanners to show they are a well-rounded operational asset.
