How to Prepare for This Role

The Assistant Legal Advisor (Rawalpindi) position at the Office of the Administrator J&K State Property in Pakistan is a three-year retainer engagement at Rs. 150,000/- per month. The role involves representing and defending property, tenancy, and estate matters before courts and tribunals in Rawalpindi on behalf of J&K State Property. The key licensing requirement is a valid High Court license, distinguishing this post from the Legal Advisor (Lahore) position which requires Supreme Court enrollment. Preference is given to Senior Partners or Owners of Law Firms with a demonstrable civil litigation track record. The four areas below describe what the selection committee will evaluate.

๐Ÿ“Œ
Note: Applications must reach the Administrator, J&K State Property in Pakistan, 10-A Kashmir Road, Lahore within 15 days of publication of this advertisement. No TA/DA is admissible. Applicants are directed to clearly mention the name of the post applied for on the top corner of the envelope.
1High Court License and Professional Standing

A valid High Court license is the primary eligibility condition for the Assistant Legal Advisor (Rawalpindi) position. In your application and at any evaluation stage, include your original enrollment certificate with your High Court license and Bar Council registration documents. Ensure your license is active and in good standing. The eligibility criteria require that candidates possess good professional standing and must not have any criminal record or professional misconduct history. Any disciplinary proceeding, Bar Council complaint, or adverse professional record must be absent or fully resolved. This is a public sector retainer representing government property interests, and the Administrator will verify professional standing before finalizing the appointment. Disclose any past professional issues proactively rather than leaving them to be discovered.

Tip
The ad requires complete particulars including date of enrollment, courts of practice, number and nature of important cases handled, and professional experience. Prepare a structured professional profile covering each of these four points. A well-organized one or two page summary submitted with your application demonstrates the thoroughness the Administrator is looking for in a legal retainer appointment.
2Civil Litigation in Property, Estate, Tenancy and Land Revenue

The scope of work is focused on property, tenancy, land management, and estate administration cases before courts and tribunals. The selection committee will assess the relevance and depth of your civil litigation experience in these areas. Prepare a case history that covers property recovery suits, tenancy eviction proceedings, land revenue matters, inheritance disputes, and estate administration cases. Be specific about the courts before which these cases were argued (civil courts, High Court, revenue courts, rent tribunals), the nature of the legal issues, and the outcomes. Prior experience representing a government body, public authority, or state entity in property and tenancy litigation is directly relevant and should be highlighted. Rawalpindi-based advocates who regularly practice in local civil courts and the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court are particularly well-positioned for this role.

Key Point
J&K State Property in Pakistan manages properties of persons displaced from Jammu and Kashmir. Cases often involve property recovery, encroachment removal, tenancy disputes, and title matters under the J&K State Property Act. Knowing this specific legislative context and how these properties are administered gives you a significant preparation advantage for any selection interview or evaluation.
3LL.B/LL.M Qualification and Law Firm Status

The eligibility criteria list LL.B/LL.M qualification as a preference. Include your degree certificates with your application. An LL.M in Property Law, Civil Litigation, or Land Law adds weight to your profile beyond the basic LL.B. The criteria also give preference to candidates working independently or serving as Senior Partners or Owners of a Law Firm. If you operate your own law firm or hold a Senior Partner position in Rawalpindi, provide the firm's registration details, your designation, and the firm's area of practice. If you are a sole practitioner, include your chamber registration, Bar Council listing, and any firm profile demonstrating your independent practice. Law Firms may also apply as entities; in that case, clearly identify the named advocate who will act as the primary Assistant Legal Advisor and provide that advocate's High Court license and enrollment details along with the firm's civil litigation portfolio.

Tip
This position is based in Rawalpindi, so candidates who actively practice before the Rawalpindi courts and the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court have an operational advantage over candidates based in other cities. In your application, clearly state your primary city of practice and the courts where you are regularly enrolled and active.
4Application Package and Submission

The application must reach the Administrator, J&K State Property in Pakistan, 10-A Kashmir Road, Lahore within 15 days of publication of this advertisement. No TA/DA is admissible. Your application package should include a cover letter clearly mentioning the post (Assistant Legal Advisor, Rawalpindi) on the top corner of the envelope, your professional profile covering date of enrollment, courts of practice, number and nature of cases handled, and professional experience, copies of your LL.B/LL.M degree, Bar Council enrollment certificate, and High Court license, and any supporting firm profile or case history. Submit the complete package in a single envelope addressed to the Administrator. Incomplete or late applications will not be entertained.
