Qualification

  • LL.B or LL.M from an HEC-recognized university.
  • Must be enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court.

Preference

  • Candidates who have also completed the Bar-at-Law qualification or have obtained an LL.M degree will be preferred.

Post-Qualification Experience

  • Applicants must have 06 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in corporate law, financial sector, or as an adjudicating officer in a regulatory body will be preferred.

Age Limit

  • The maximum age should not exceed 40 years on the closing date for submission of applications.
  • Candidates who have at least 3 years of work experience with a regulator will be given age relaxation of 5 years.

Terms & Conditions

  1. All appointments shall be made on a contractual basis for a term of three (3) years, extendable on organizational need and performance basis. The Commission may consider regularization of these positions after completion of three years, subject to fulfillment of the criteria prescribed for this purpose.

How to Prepare for This Role

The Deputy Director (Adjudication Division) position at SECP requires LL.B or LL.M qualification with enrollment as an Advocate of the High Court and a minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience. 1LL.B/LL.M Qualification and High Court Advocate Enrollment

Evaluators will verify your LL.B or LL.M from an HEC-recognized university and your enrollment certificate as an Advocate of the High Court as mandatory qualifications. Bring your original degree, transcript, and Bar Council enrollment certificate to every stage of the process. If you hold a Bar-at-Law qualification or an LL.M degree in addition to the basic requirement, present these as they are listed as preference criteria. The Adjudication Division handles enforcement proceedings under Pakistan's securities and corporate law framework, so candidates who can demonstrate formal legal training beyond a basic LL.B, such as specialized postgraduate or Bar professional qualifications, carry a clear advantage at the shortlisting stage.

Tip
If your degree is from a foreign institution, confirm your HEC equivalency certificate is in order before applying. Foreign-degree applicants are frequently screened for this at early stages, and a missing equivalency can result in disqualification before the written test or interview.
26 Years Post-Qualification Experience in Corporate Law or the Financial Sector

The evaluation will assess the relevance and depth of your 6-year post-qualification legal career. Be prepared to discuss corporate law matters you have handled directly: company formation disputes, shareholder conflicts, securities regulatory compliance, contractual enforcement, or capital market transactions. If your experience is in the financial sector, prepare examples of legal advisory work involving listed entities, fund managers, brokers, or insurance companies. Experience letters from each employer must clearly state your designation, the period of employment, and the nature of legal work performed. The ad specifically values corporate law and financial sector experience, so candidates whose letters describe generic litigation or civil practice without a corporate or financial dimension may be scored lower.

Key Point
Post-qualification experience is calculated from the date of bar enrollment or degree completion, not from when you began working. If your experience letters cover overlapping or ambiguous periods, clarify this in your application. The 6-year minimum is a hard screening threshold at SECP.
3Regulator Experience and Age Relaxation Eligibility

The ad specifies that candidates with at least 3 years of work experience with a regulator will receive age relaxation of 5 years, making them eligible up to the age of 45. If you have worked at SECP, SBP, NEPRA, OGRA, PTA, or any other regulatory or quasi-regulatory body, document this experience carefully in your application. Tip
