How to Prepare for This Role
The Legal Advisor (Lahore) position at the Office of the Administrator J&K State Property in Pakistan is a three-year retainer engagement at Rs. 175,000/- per month. The role involves representing and defending property and tenancy cases before courts and tribunals on behalf of J&K State Property, a specialized function requiring a valid Supreme Court of Pakistan license and strong civil litigation experience. Preference is given to Senior Partners or owners of law firms who are actively practicing. The selection will assess your legal standing, litigation track record, and subject expertise. The four areas below outline what the selection committee will evaluate most closely.
A valid license to practice before the Supreme Court of Pakistan is the primary eligibility condition for the Legal Advisor position. In your application and at any interview or evaluation stage, bring your original enrollment certificate, your Supreme Court license, and your Bar Council registration documents. Ensure your license is current and in good standing. The eligibility criteria also specifically state that candidates must possess good professional standing and must not have any criminal record or professional misconduct history. If you have ever faced a Bar Council disciplinary proceeding, legal action, or professional misconduct inquiry, address this proactively. Any adverse professional history that comes to light after appointment may result in termination of the retainer agreement.
The advertisement requires complete particulars including date of enrollment, courts of practice, and number and nature of important cases handled. Prepare a structured one or two page professional profile that lists your enrollment date, every court before which you hold a license or regularly practice, a categorized summary of cases handled (property, tenancy, estate, land revenue), and total years of active practice. Submit this with your application letter rather than waiting to be asked at interview.
The scope of work centers on property, tenancy, land management, and estate administration matters. The selection committee will assess the depth and relevance of your civil litigation experience in these specific areas. Prepare a case history that demonstrates your work on property disputes, tenancy eviction proceedings, land revenue matters, inheritance and estate cases, and matters before revenue courts or civil courts involving immovable property. Be ready to describe significant cases you have handled, the legal issues involved, the courts before which they were argued, and the outcomes. If you have previously represented a government department, public authority, or estate administration body, highlight this prominently as it directly mirrors the work you would perform under this retainer.
J&K State Property in Pakistan manages properties belonging to displaced persons from Jammu and Kashmir. Cases typically involve property recovery, tenancy disputes, encroachment removal, and title verification. Familiarity with the J&K State Property Act, Transfer of Property Act, Specific Relief Act, and relevant tenancy laws in Punjab will demonstrate direct subject competence for this role.
The eligibility criteria list LL.B/LL.M qualification as a preference criterion. Include your degree certificates with your application. An LL.M in a relevant area such as Property Law, Civil Litigation, or Land Law strengthens your profile beyond the basic LL.B. The criteria also give preference to candidates working independently or serving as Senior Partners or Owners of a Law Firm. If you operate your own law firm or hold a Senior Partner position, provide your firm's registration documents, your designation, and the firm's area of practice. If you are a sole practitioner, include documentation of your independent practice such as your chamber registration, bar council listing as an independent advocate, and any firm letterhead or profile you use. This preference indicates the organization seeks a legal professional who brings institutional legal capacity rather than only individual representation.
Law Firms may also apply, not just individual advocates. If applying as a firm, clearly identify the named advocate who will act as the primary Legal Advisor under the retainer, provide that advocate's Supreme Court license and enrollment details, and submit the firm's profile documenting its civil litigation track record in property and tenancy matters.
The application must be submitted within 15 days of publication of this advertisement and must reach the Administrator, J&K State Property in Pakistan, 10-A Kashmir Road, Lahore. No TA/DA is admissible. Your application package should include a cover letter clearly mentioning the post applied for on the top corner of the envelope, your professional profile with date of enrollment, courts of practice, number and nature of important cases handled, and professional experience, copies of your LL.B/LL.M degree, your Bar Council enrollment certificate, your Supreme Court license, and any supporting case history or firm profile. Applications must be complete at the time of submission. Ensure the envelope bears the post name on the top corner as the advertisement instructs applicants to do so.
