The Deputy Manager (Legal) will play a critical role in representing the company in litigation, drafting legal instruments, and handling corporate affairs. Reporting directly to the Manager (HR & Admn), the selected professional will safeguard corporate objectives and streamline stakeholder legal communications.

Key Responsibilities (Job Descriptions)

The Deputy Manager (Legal) will be responsible for managing litigation, vetting contracts, and representing the organization across various legal platforms, including:

  • Court Representation: Act as the Official Representative of JPCL in court cases and pursue all legal matters actively on behalf of the company.
  • Litigation Management: Oversee, monitor, and manage all ongoing litigation of JPCL while maintaining efficient coordination with appointed external lawyers.
  • Stakeholder Advocacy: Strongly advocate for and protect the Company’s core objectives and strategic interests with external stakeholders.
  • Legal Documentation: Draft, review, and prepare formal legal notices along with their strategic replies.
  • Commercial Contracts: Perform rigorous legal vetting of commercial contracts and agreements to mitigate organizational risk.
  • Additional Duties: Execute any other specialized legal or administrative tasks assigned by the In-charge officer.

Required Professional Qualifications & Experience

Candidates applying for this position at JPCL must strictly meet the following qualification and experience criteria:

  • Education: At least a Law Graduate (LL.B) from a recognized institution.
  • Professional Registration: Must be actively registered with the relevant Bar Council.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of active post-qualification experience performing as a practicing lawyer handling corporate affairs and service matters.
  • Preferred Experience: Preference will be extended to candidates possessing direct legal experience within a Thermal Power Plant environment.
  • Age Limit: Maximum of 40 years.

Desired Competencies & Skills

  • Profound knowledge of corporate law, labor laws, service matters, and commercial contracts.
  • Strong advocacy, communication, and negotiation skills to deal with external legal counsel and stakeholders.
  • Excellent draftsmanship for legal replies, agreements, and corporate notices.
  • Ability to work under pressure and effectively manage a high-volume litigation portfolio.
